My smaller royals

Well I choose ones that appeal to me more than the L number they are and for the time being L190 are much more prevalent than L27. My holy grail of a royal would be a pure white based one. Im not too much a fan of spotted ones though, stripes for me.
What filtration do you use? How often do you clean the filters. And what is your water change schedule? I ask because I have poo/saw dust everywhere. I clean my 2 rena xp3 every 2 months and its nasty. I have an aquaclear 110 too that i clean out twice a month. I only have 2 royals one 5-6 inches and other is 7-8 inches

Tetratec ex2400
2 x Aquamedic PF1000 (for mech filtration)
I couldnt say with regards to the cleaning of them right now because Ive recently added the PF1000's which take up loads of debris, and the eheim is new as well. The tetratec needed it every 3-4 months.
WC's I try to do 25-30% weekly but im in the process of adapting it to around 50% weekly because I will be combining my tanks.
