As you might know, I got a corn snake of about a few months of age a week or so ago. He ate the frozen mouse. Everything is going well, but this morning I found a peculiar piece of black-thing. It is very tine, and seems shaped like a mouse digested over a very long amount of time; very little left. Sorry I don't have pics, I threw it away. Could it be that my snake threw it up? Last night my heater was turned on, and it might have heated the room up a bit. Would he have thrown up because of that?

Also, I'm not sure if he knows there is water to drink. Anything I can do? I want to make sure he gets some to drink.

Thanks if you can help. I don't want to lose him.

i never see mine drink from the bowl but if i mist the cage around him he drings from the drops, since he is so active at nite and is healthy looking i asume he drinks from the bowl.Hase it craped yet so you can see the diference. Was their any white in it.I think i saw what your describing in a pet store corn cage. What are the temps in the cage?

You need to know the exact temps in the cage. Too hot or too cold and corns will regurge. And even if the prey was completely absorbed it is still a sign of trouble.

Oh, damn...I don't have something to measure temperature. I guess they sell something at the pet store to measure it. I will get one asap. But, how can I adjust the temperature to what it needs to be? Thanks.

do you have a heat lamp or pad? What size tank?Whats the temp in your house?

i saw in another thread you have a lamp,is it a heat lamp or regular light bulb and if so what watts with what size tank, and your house temps, you need to make sure it drinks or at least knows whare the water is.

I'm not sure what the watts are...I guess I can find out some time. Sorry I can't now, but I'm supposed to sleep soon...but anyway, its a 20gallon, I don't know exactly my houses temps, but its been a bit cold lately, with the cold weather. It is a heat lamp, for reptiles, it does make light. I should get some more info tommorow. Thanks for your help again, jason. I will ask my mom to get a temp measurer tomorow (I have school).

How can I make sure it knows there is water?

It knows there is water LOL!!!

ANY bulb will do as long as it has enough watts to bump the temp up to the right spec. I would consider some sort of secondary heat like an under tank pad on the same side as the light. This way there is a warm spot at night and a nice temp gradient during the day with one seide of the enclosure warm/hot and the other cool.

I heard heat pads are bad for snakes though, as they can burn them. I think he has another side that is cool, though. He always buries were the lamp heats, so I guess he is going for the heat, that's good. I just hope he drink, because he seems to spend all his time under the aspen bedding.

When using an undertank heating pad or heat source... It is Strongly Suggested that you invest in a thermosat. Spendy but is more reliable than reostat..

Also I just bought a thermometer at radio shack.. But they have them at the LFS too.. Ask for a digital thermometer. They are like 10.00 Then you will know for sure the exact temp of your enclosure or heat pad .

I am not experienced I only have been reading and reading MORE reading, as I am about to make a Snake purchase.. And would rather know what I am getting into somewhat before I have issues.

I would definiately take a picture next time bro ;) Most the herp keepers can gauge much better and may even pin down your problem if you take a pic ;)

I am about ready for tuesday. That is when I invest in my new pet ;)

Anyway. Hope I helped a little at least with the thermometer ;)
