When I got home from work today, I went to check on my eastern spiny softshell in her pond. She wasn't there. My dad and I tore apart the whole yard looking for her, but we couldn't find her. It's very unlikely she got out of the yard, because of the way all the fencing is, but we sure as heck can't find her anywhere. I'm going to go back out and look again in the morning and hope I find her. I know she won't last long out of water in this weather...

:cry::cry:

then dont you think she would make her way back to it.How big is she,bird food size,cat food or no food.All I can say is good luck and tread very carefully while walking around,put out some more little shallow water trays maybe just incase shes still their and looses her way back.Hose off the yard maybe reall good.Im sorry,good luck.Also do they roam at night?

I don't think she can get back in the pond, its raised up about 14 inches off the ground. But then, I didnt' think she could get out either... :(

She's 12" long (carapace), so the only thing likely to get her would be a dog. I have two, but she's already managed to scare them into leaving her alone (she has a very large, sharp beak).

I'm hoping she just buried herself in a dirt patch and I will find her wandering around looking for water today. It also rained some last night, so my big pond I'm digging has about 4 inches of water in the deepest part, maybe she'll end up down there...

I'll feel terrible if I don't find her. The next door neighbor has a pond, but there's no way for her to get into their yard. The nearest water after that is either the sewer, or a flood canal about a half mile away. Hopefully she didn't make it into the front yard and get carried off by someone walking by....:(

I hope you find her man, good luck. oh and watch out that you dont step on her if she is buried in a dirt patch.

They are known for burying themselves in mud.... is she "under" her pond?

Any luck finding her?

No luck finding her yet. I haven't moved the pond to check under it. I may do that later tonight or tomorrow. As much stuff as we've moved around, and as much dirt as we've dug up, if she isn't under the pond, then she must have either really buried herself good, or she managed to get out of the yard, in which case I'm sure I'll never see her again. :(

you'll think that now but youll see her in like 2 months or some crazy **** like that. thats happend to me multiple times and more than half the time the turtles went straight into the garage...lol

I've heard people losing their turtles for months then finding them. They dont stray away from their pond to often it looks like. I suggest looking in humid places she can hide in. Unless shes small then maybe she got eaten. Put some food out while your gone. Something she;d enjoy and see if any of it is eaten by the time you get back. You can tell the difference between turtle bites and other animals.
