This four year old pair of Green Severums has definitely set a record (at least in my rather lengthy fish keeping life) for the greatest number of spawns of any pair of fish that I have ever had... and I have had many!!! I stopped counting spawns at 20 and that was over two years ago. I would hazard a guess a grand total of around 35 to 40 spawns, which averages one every three to four weeks over their mature lifetime to this point in time. All spawns have been in the same 90G tank, and they have laid their eggs on the same "half pot" pretty much every time. Never inside, always on the outside surface. Quite amazing! And through it all, their pair bond has never broken or even weakened. Remarkable fish. Here they are tending to their latest batch. As usual, I just had to get my camera out.
