My Strange Gar :)

hey guys i refuse to feed my gar live food cause of disease and watnot. therefore i started my pair of alli gars on frozen shrimp with the rest of their tankmates...one of them liked it and the other didnt. not surprisingly one of them is obese while the other is anorexic. today i threw in sum cylinder shaped arowana pellets for a laugh. sure enuf the skinny gar attacked the pellets ravenously. any of u able to train ure gar to eat pellets? i found it pretty cool. first time ive done it.

Yes my gar loves pellets! Even more then frozen and freeze dried shrimp or feeder convict cichlids.

lol i guess its not thatttt unusual then. i always thought pellets may hurt their teeth cause their teeth r not designed for grinding.

I've never had a gar that did not take pellets. It is far more rare that they will not...

Only gar I've ever had a problem getting off live was a longnose...

i wish i had nice quality pellets here.... my tank just finished 60 pcs of 1-2" carps in less than 24 hours! with the gator eating most of em...=/ anyway, good job!
