I was asked to post my sump.
1) The first pic shows the whole gimmick, ca.450 litres sump, 3 Eheim cannisters with carbon and with Chemipure and a UV lamp.
On top of the sump is a 1.10 m long and thin tank where one of the Eheim cannisters discharges. Water flows through lava rocks with plants ( peace lillies ) and trickles down on the other side on the 2nd chamber of the sump.
2) 2nd pic shows the left side of sump. Water fall from the tank in a 200 micron bag. this first chamber is full of sponges and Ehfifix.
There is a plant by the side which aerial roots go deep into the 1st chamber of the sump.
3) 3rd picture shows the 2nd sump chamber full of bio media.
4) 4th to 7th picture shows the sumps central chamber very heavily planted by fast growing plants and also a lot of peace lillies ( you can see the huge size of them ).
5) I have a wet/dry box full of sponges on top of the sumps central chamber ( the planted one ) that receives water from the sumps last chamber and lets it trickle back into the central sump.
6) A 2500 l/hr pump directs some water from the sump's last chamber back into the 2nd chamber to have it travel again through part of the sump.
7) The UV works in the sump, between last chamber ( collection ) and central chamber ( discharge ).
I hope I made it clear in terms of description..
M
