Here.
Hello fellow MFKers,

I recently started a thread about how I wanted to setup the return and am not complete in the designing. I want to see if any of you guys can look over my design plans and let me know if you see any problems.

The area I am most worried about is the amount of flow (GPH) reduction due to the second return line. As you can see I want to plumb it 1" all around until it is in the tank where a 3/4" will be used to mate a Loc-Line fitting ( they don't have 1" versions :( ).

Please, anyone with experience in this matter, chime in!

The diagram has all the lengths and sizing denoted. Thanks everyone!

The only thing I see is that you might want a "Y" fitting where you have the "T" fitting. This might cause a variation in pressure. At least it did on my setup.

I also have an FX5... where should I place the return for that? Should I just do one return for the sump since I have another FX5?

I need some input for optimum efficiency.

Thanks guys! Always appreciate it.

Wouldn't the valves help to counter that?

I think the "T" creates too much of a bend @ 90 degrees, therefore restricting flow. Not sure but that is what I think Pharaoh meant.

They will to an extent. Strictly speaking from experience here. It does create a bit of a loss in flow.

you can eliminate alot of imbalance by splitting the returns equally...

What exactly do you mean? By using a T splitter down the middle?

Thanks!
