Hey you guys I am trying to breed my synodontis multipunctatus in my african cichlid tank. I have determined that I have two males and one female. Two of them have paired off and I believe that they are laying eggs all over my tank and they are falling in the gravel and then getting eaten by fish.

MY TANK (stock and equipment):
STOCK: 3 Syno cats, five peacocks 1 male 4 females(mystery blue peacocks and dragon blood), 1 frontosa(kigomo?), 1 livingstoni male, 1 red zebra, 4 bushy nose plecos (albino, long fin all with albino genes), 3 debwaii cats (sp?), 1 clown loach, and 1 tetracanthus cichlid.
THE SETUP: Standard 55 gallon tank (I know, too small in the long run), 2 aqua clear 50s and an elite heater with 2 air bubblers.

is it possible to breed the Syno cats without a host? Should I move the pair to a ten gallon so they can be undisturbed? Please give me any tips and tricks you may have. I will continue to update this thread whenever something new happens

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

I'm thinking I should set up the 20 gallon long with a flower pot or two and some rocks. I would use water from the tank they are currently in. Also how often should I do water changes on this tank? Every day? Every other day? And how much should I change? Should I use water from the main tank?

sorry for all of the questions, I'm new to catfish breeding

With all due respect to MFK, I've met few here that know their synos. Synos are not monster fish :)

I strongly advise you to seek help on Planet Catfish (PCF). I personally know more than a dozen of syno buffs and breeders and the highest level syno experts who are regularly active on PCF. I wanna be wrong but predict little help here.

I've kept and am keeping plenty of synos but never bred them. All I know about them is from the PCF.
