keep us posted as it grows will look beautiful as it matures.

doesnt look SNYP to me. Looks like another type of pure Vieja or Paratheraps though. Just not sure what type.

Impossible to be sure from visual inspection........many hybrids can look pretty pure. You need to know the lineage to be sure.

thanks for the replies guys, however, it is quite impossible to trace lineage in this part of the globe as most americans are illegal to import.
i have 3 actually, this is the best looking guy, the other looks female with a lot more orange on her flange, eventhough they are from the same batch

they all look syn to me,syn's vary a great deal in color and pattern depending on the lineage. i have a pair that looks just like the one in the bottom of the picture.

This is a direct quote from Dan Woodland a true cichlid expert about id'ing fish as pure from visual inpsection, this came from the Cichild Room board. They were discusiing bifaciatum..........

"PS. The reason it is nearly impossible to ID these fish let alone any Cichlid like this is their extreme variability along with being available from multiple locations, geez, unless you have a solid line to their source river or lake you’ll never be able to tell.
