Hello to all :)

Let me introduce my lineatus. Bought it on January this year, size around 3cm (1,2"). Now it has been grown quite a bit and measures around 15cm (5,9"). At first I kept it in larger community tank, but now it lives by it's own. None of the tank mates earlier got never eaten. Harmless little creature indeed ;)

I'll try to shoot some new photos later this week to see how's he grown.

thats a pretty fast growth rate.
u must be feeding it good.

The first 9-10 months are the fastest, they usually grow to ~20cm (7-8") in that time if fed well. After that the growth rate usually becomes more settle ;)

You might be the lucky one to have the 1%er that allows tank mates. Or he may get more aggressive with age.

Yes, it might be that mine is the peacefull one ;) I've kept three of these earlier (not in same together or at same time) and all of my fahakas had tank mates - altough I kept only very fast tetras just to be sure. This current one lived in harmony with others, including the small corydoras. But ofcourse, I might just be lucky.

I've also read and heard from other keepers, that lineatus is in general less bad tempered when younger. All of my older ones were very well behaving, I have never experienced any attacks or such, plus the tankmates were left unharmed. It's always been really safe for me to clean the tanks, every single time I started the cleaning, the current individual would pull back to it's "parking slot" (every time the same place) and stay there as long the operation was done. No need for nets or other safe gear.

Although I've also heard and seen couple of really agressive specimen, so it's always best to play safe. They have great teeth and mighty jaws, as you all know.

Thanks for the warning!!

Yep, Cricket & Bozo.
