So the gear here is very different. My pole is 270 centimeters, about 8 feet. I still have trouble converting metric to the inch system. I caught all the fish you guys see in my posts with this rod. The rod is fairly good quality, and the best thing is that it costs around $33 US dollars, for the rod itself. It's lightweight, and comes with a carrying case. The reel is average, nothing special about it. That cost around the same. The rods are sweet. Some of the ones I've seen here don't require reels. You fish with this long 12+ foot rod, and the length of the rod itself tires out the fish, without the need for extra line. Enjoy.

Not different at all. We have those over here as well. Judging from that cap on the rod is that pole made by south bend?

Also when buying a pack rod like that its usually better to buy a multi piece rod rather than a telescoping. I have both, the multi piece while it is a pain to put together when you go fishing lasts ALOT longer and you dont risk the pole falling into itself when fishing.

I have a rod almost exactly like that except red 8 foot. Shimano reel. Bought it in Hawaii. I live in the midwest US so I use it for catfish now. I also have a 9 foot 4 piece fly rod that I use for trout, crappie, bass, and other panfish.

Anyway its not so different over here. We use 9-15 foot rods for panfish too.

I'm from the US. I've only been in Taiwan for the last two years. I have fished all my life back home and I can tell you that it's very different from what we have back home. Of course it is not a south bend. It is made in Japan, and I cannot read what brand or what it even says on it. I have seen those long rods used for panfish and salmon, and this is very different. This one does not fall inot itself when fishing, as this is a very good quality fishing rod. Back home, I use one piece rods because they are of premium quality and more sensitive. There are not multi piece rods here or single piece. This is a very different country, and I'm still getting used to it. Even the hooks are different. They don't have eyes.

The pole is simple Telescoping Tech. I can get them at Walmart. the Poles guides may be a little different, But then again the guides on most poles are different from Manufacturer to Manufacturer.

As for the Eyeless hooks. They can be found in the states under the term Blindeye or Straight Shank. Their Old tech and Hooks with eyes are easier that's why their not seen everywhere in the US. But they have their Niche. My brother in law uses them to make Flies.

Edit: Forgot, the 12 foot no rod pole goes under the name Cane Pole in the US.

haha i can tell you guys those rods are NOTHING like what americans use.

the cane or telescoping poles from asia (japan/taiwan/korea) are on another level than the domestic ones.

Back home in Cali, I used to fish with G-Loomis rods. I miss my rods. When I came here, I wanted to take them with me, but since they are one piece, I could not take it on the plane with me. I have to adjust to my new environment. To top it off, I hate how everytime I walk into the local tackle shop, they are clueless. Then, they have prepaired dough baits for everything. I hate using their dough baits. I still prefer using lures and worms.
