My tank is crystal clear now

Ever since I built my overflow and sump I noticed my tank is crystal clear...Now I have been running a Fluval XP5 and Fluval 305 with medium since October and this tank has not been this clear..... I have a 20 gallon Sump with some plants and gravel and a sock with carbon in it.... Thumbs up for the DIY stuff....

That is a sweet set up! I like the cap idea with the small hole drilled into it to cut the sound of the water down I'm adding that to mine tomorrow!

And the cap works really well....I took it off and gurgle gurgle...noisyyy...

hey ruddybop, I like your sump. I borrowed a couple details for the sump I'm planning.

I noticed your overflows are really short and compact. I assume they have worked well for you. Do you know what your getting for a flow rate? How far below the intake is the tee outlet. Seems like there's not a lot of vertical space between the inlet and the "U" at the bottom.

Yes they work very well.... I didn't want those long ugly pvc tubes all the way down in my tank... I used 45 degree off to the t and it dropped it down....it flow about 300 to 400 gph..... If you go to my YouTube home page i have a better view of the Overflow with some brief instructions....
