Tank Size: 150g (72 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 28 1/2)
Filtration: 2 x Rena XP3s, 1 x AC110 (Will be getting this in the future to help surface agitation), 1 x Powerhead
Current Stock: 8 Giant Danios, 6 Yoyo Loaches, 3 Severums, 1 GT*, 1 BN Pleco

*I'm currently growing 3 out right now and will pick the best looking one and then either return the other two to my LFS or give them to someone in the local fish club; all 3 are juvies right now.

I will be taking back the Giant Danios as I have heard from several people here that they are fin nippers. Because everything in my tank is small (juvies) is probably the reason why I haven't noticed this happening. With those guys gone I'm curious if my tank is overstocked, understocked or stocked about right.

If it's understocked I'd like to add a few more fish (thinking of another Sev or Cuban or JD or a Geo or/and Gold Nugget Pleco). Or maybe find another top level fish that doesn't like to nip at fins and won't get eaten...or could add to the yoyos.

Thoughts?

defenitly under, but having an understocked tank is the way to go! less water changes, less stress on the fish, and they have more room to swim around with!

I don't mind an understocked tank (actually prefer it) but if I can add another fish or two or three I wouldn't mind :D

Thoughts on adding 1 Cuban, 1 Gold Sev & 1 Gold Nugget Pleco? Still slightly understocked?

i dont understand the reasoning behind getting rid of the giant danios? you will get rid of small fin nippers so you can add some big fin nippers(jd,gt, orcuban)?

I'm a tad thrown off by your question here. I have a somewhat decent size tank, and I want to fill it with a slightly understocked stock list that is compatible (I understand that the term compatible is variable, each fish has a different temperament and a fish that is usually not aggressive with others can be aggressive for another fish keeper).

Since I already have a GT (well, growing out 3 in the tank), then following your logic I should only have that one fish in the 150g because it could nip the fins of the Severums and what's the point of getting rid of the Giant Danios who could nip the fins of the Severums while keeping a GT that could do the same as well. (wow, sorry for that long run-on sentence)

Am I wrong for wanting to have a nicely stocked 150g tank?

Going this weekend to a few LFS I haven't been before, I guess I'll get what I want as I have backup options if needed.

understocked, but of the cichlid options, I would not add a Cuban due to aggression issues it can cause

I'll stick with trying to find a Gold Sev, Red Sev and a Gold Nugget Pleco and call my tank stocked ^^
