well yeah i had my tank looking like thisDSCF2585.JPG
then i had to move all of the rocks out and move it forward to put a back ground on (took ages for it to drain )
so now i got a sort of bare tank like this ....

any suggestion s on wat would look good ?

I think the rocks looks really good. since youre posting this under SA cichlids, i'm guessing thats what you would like to stock in it, so why not go for a south american tank? get some nice amazon swords, get some driftwood. the way you had it originally wasn't bad. it just needed more plants. I would try to use what you have already to make it work and build off of that. some thinner branch looking pieces of wood could be inverted to look like roots which gives a cool effect.

yeah wells there about 20 fish in that tank just really small ther ebjd n normal jds .... a jag n rivulatus lol ...
i dont want the rocks in there cause i dont see the fish at all ... till feeding time which sucks .....i like the thing branch idea with long grass maybe...

Very nice! Always wanted a similar background but couldn't convince myself to do all the work ;).

Keep an eye on the fish, especially when they are small. If some of them show any signs of stress, you may want to add some rocks/wood/plants to make some hiding spots. I know it could be frustrating not to see them, but that's exactly the point...

I would get some wood in there 4sure..depending on cichlids you have, you could try some tall fake plants, they'd be nice

Put the rocks back in.

Yeah the first pics with the rocks looks really cool.

Maybe some more lighting (so you can light the entire tank)?

Try getting larger I mean much larger rock will in the long run work best. From your pics it appears that you have a lot of rocks that are small and really do not serve a purpose.
Personally, I have never used wood seems to make my water brown and really does not serve a purpose (to each his own)
I use huge river rock and lava rock-I figure when my cichlid get large the caves can be there for life-a lot of times if you use smaller rocks the cichlids either get too large or dig so much that the foundation can collapse and break your tank. I also put my caves in the very back of my tank.

You should first practice landscaping outside to get the hang of building caves for your fish-I personally have done it for years and see it as an art form-takes time to get good at it.

o yeah i was thinking of larger rocks
and mayb try and get some ceramic looking type wood instead of the real stuff because it makes my tank sort of merky looking .....
and some long grass .... but wont the rocks be too heavy though
i no my last lot was ... but hmm ...
