Is this a Carpinte or Cyano experts? Few pearls got bit off but he's still good to show.

And for his kind, 1-5, how do you rate him? I love this fish when he gets a gf. He changes to black/white with sky blue shinning pearls and fins flexed. I got rid of his gf because she's a lil terror when they paired.

The fish is Hericthys cyanagutatus...the true Texas Cichlid. THe color change you are describing is the breeding coloration. Shame you got rid of the other. Sounds like you had some breeders.

The female was a Carpinte and she was more shiny than him and deeper turquoise pearls. I actually want a Cyano for him.

he's about 6.5"

Im looking for a Cyano female for him.

Just picked up an Escondido today. A male. I want an Escondido female for him too. Let me know if anybody in socal got any guys.. Thanks

Yes. H. cyanaguttatus and H. carpinte both turn B&W with slight pearl opalescence when breeding.
