My tilapia got a new tank today

My 19" hybrid tilapia got an upgrade today. He moved from a 125 to a 180...

I haven't turned the lights on yet, just giving him a chance to adjust first, but here he is in the dark. He actually looks small in that tank!

I have threatened to eat this fish since the day his parents were put in the same tank. Looks like I am going to need a bigger pan.

Thanks. He was a mistake that was never fully explained. When we found fry in the filters we were pretty confused.

I had used 2 groups of hybrid tilapia in my masters degree research. One group of Oreochromis mossambicus x O. hororum and another group that was O. nilotics x O. aurerus. It was presumed that both groups were all male and after 9 months of grow-out and nutrition studies we saw no evidence of anything else. When I was done I put the groups together and in about 18 days the filters were full of fry?!?!?!?!

I presume he is a 4 species hybrid, but I will never know.

He has now lived with me in 3 states. I have had him almost 8 years.
