Hamiltonii are from India.......And we do have Spotteds in Florida, but I'm not at liberty to say where.......

Yes never give out a spot like that. All it takes is someone finding out and they are poached for sale or food.

We had many softshells in area caught for food. I think my old state of NY has spotteds also on protected status. I have never seen one .

Bigger is always better... but I think a XL waterland tub would be more than enough for a 1.2 trio

I looked at them while back the medium and large are a nice size but either way truly well made turtle habitats.

I opted for water trough as keep my little turts outside but those turtle tubs are great.

@Chris: Very nice turtles and well dimensioned enclosures. All of your turtles get very big, I hope you have the room to keep them if they are grown up ;-)

@handFriedShrimp: A big waterland tub is definitely too small for the species. They get VERY agressive as they mature, especially males. I know at least three keepers who had to separate males because they tried to hump everything that got in their way. If the partner didn't like to, they bit them and bullied them until all turtles except the dominant male left the water. The Vienna Vivarium keeps a trio in a 5000+ litre tank and they always have bite marks from the others.

The spotteds are the one's that get agressive as adults?

Neither would happen, as they are very hard to find, and aren't locally abundant........But I don't kiss and tell either..........You're way too far South to see any, even if you wanted too........

The Indian spotteds, G. hamiltoni yes.

awesome turtles and setups! what kind of tank is that first one? it's pretty neat because it doesn't have trims on the top.

Hey everyone,

Thanks a bunch for all the comments! They are all great turtles

How large of a setup would you need to keep and breed a pair of Geoclemys hamiltonii?

I'm not sure what the minumum size would be but my goal is to setup a big cattle tank-type enclosure for a group of them. I'm slowly building up my group and they are still fairly small.

Ha, yeah they are all large species. If they weren't going to get as big as they do, I would have more but don't want to run out of room for them.

That tank is an Exo-Terra Turtle Terrarium. I really liked the clean trim and open top look and its a good size for babies.
