My Umbie

I thought I would post this hear as not many people check out the Fish Sickness area. I just picked up about 20 fish from my buddy I got this Male Umbie and a couple of Dovies as well. As you can see this guy got bit and the wound is kinda infected - suggestions on treating it. I have salted the tank and I put some wound control on it.

I think you'll be fine with the salt. Great way to keep infections away. Eventually you'll probably not notice the wound very much if at all. Looks like it will take some months though. Good luck. That's a nice looking fish.

put in his own tank first, then raise the temp to about 84 degrees add salt and melafix or pimafix, should be back to normal in a week or two

The one with a fungus type stuff growing from a bite. Might also try to quaratine tank the Umbee and go salt/melafix/pimafix/higher temo and more aeration route for a faster fix.

He is awesome but I gave him back to my friend today - I am hoping he can heal him and then I will buy him back. He will go nicely in a tank all by himself. I have noticed that the Umbie cant take a bite like a Dovie, they are much more prone to infection. BUT I HALF TO HAVE HIM...LOL
