no need to add anything just let nature do its work? i think its the minnows its the only time they get hyper. they still take krill and the lil guy eats pellets big guy wont lol.

Stop adding feeders. The bigger they get the harder they are to break. Read my stickied thread, I covered why; in the wild young fish will eat insects and seeds from the surface but once they get bigger they start eating fish. Take advantage of that.

As for the healing, when mine get a scratch like that I never do anything to help them beyond maybe a little bit of salt. I normally put salt in the tank every water change anyway so its no big deal really.

+1 chicx, maybe a little salt.... maybe the scales when they regrow will be a darker color for an additional week or 2, but it'll heal up fine.... i've seen some nasty deep meaty wounds with mine, and in a few weeks couldnt even tell they were ever hurt.... just make sure to keep up with your water changes

k thanks for the advice guys. nice to know these fish are hardy. lil rockets in a tank gets scary some times.

Umm, are you sure it was from something else and not the tank mate? Is it a slice or scrape? What do you have in the tank that is so sharp it can make a clean slice like a razor? The only thing I can think of is teeth.....

Mine fight sometimes and they end up with slices down their sides. If you didn't have two ATFs I would look elsewhere but when you put them together expect squabbles. Especially around the 6" mark.

Filters are usualy too big and dull to cut a small fish. Larger fish with their weight and strength, could easily cut themselves. Its probably something else in your tank, I noticed in your pics you have shells on the bottom, the sharp edges on those can cut flesh.
