Today i could not longer resist to buy a ray. After long and hard thinking i wanted one so bad that i made an appointment with a guy who was selling good looking motoros.
I picked up this baby female. Her disk is around 5" in diameter. After dripping her for 2 hours i finally put her in my main tank. As expected, the datnoid had to start by being a bully. He pushed her a few times but now he seems to be confident she aint food and no danger either. The fire eel was very very curious and it was funny to see how the eel wanted to put the nose under the rays' disk. Finally my big panaque was also a bit surprised to see seomthing that flat on the bottom of his tank. Luckely he wasnt too rude.

The ray started eating within the minute! First she picked up a piece of mussel and an algae wafer and a couple of minutes later she picked up a whole mussel, dropped by my aro. Freaking awesome to see how she gets al the good meat out in a couple of minutes.

Here are some pics of the ray in the box and the first pic of her in the tank.

She is laying under the sand now, probably chilling out after all the new faces around her.

What do you guys think??

Beautiful ray! I hope she continues to get along with her tank mates. I'm really starting to get the bug to get a ray myself!

rays are a must in most tanks. there so awesome. make sure u have nice tankmates and clean water and he'll be a happy camper. congrats on ur new pickup.

thanks bro. ive made sure my water is tip top before i added the ray. all i do is hope his new friends will be gentle, especially the first night. my very first ray, a retic, died after the first night :( That was in another tank tho.

Congrats on the new pickup. My tiretrack eel used to love to hide under my ray. They were inseperable buddies!

very smart, that little ray look great, what sort of size you think she? will get in the end TL/disk?

Shame

she will get huge! hopefully around 60cm in disk and maybe bigger. ofc this tank is a bit small but im planning (for real, as my fish are # 1) to get a huge tank when im done studying in a year. Thats why i bought her a bit small.

one thing i would reccomend is a heater guard if u dont already have one. they can burn quite easily.:)
