My water change system

I tapped into the cold water line of my house


Then I ran the line through the wall into my fish room





It is connected to a float valve in a 110 gallon aquarium





The 110 is plumbed into my 265's sump.







Once the 110 is full I treat the water with seachem's safe. I heat it to match the tank and keep it agitated with a small power head. I drain the 265 down 100 gallons. Then open the ball valve on the 110 and once the sump is filled up I turn the return pumps back on and pump all the new water back up to the 265. Takes about 20 minutes total.

I would've used a barrel or something but I made the door to my fish room only 19" wide and most barrels wouldn't fit. So a 18" wide tank was my only option. A 75 or 90 wouldn't have been big enough to do an appropriately sized water change on the 265. So the 110 was perfect.

Tried something new today. I kept the tank running while I ran in the new water and siphoned off the old at the same time. I know I also removed some of the new water. But it cut my water change time in half. 100 gallons in about 10 minutes.
