so my 100g tank can be heated with only 1 heater but the only temp i can keep consistant is about 83-85 degrees. are there any bad side effects to water that warm. fish seem fine but seems like most temps on other tanks i see are like 10 degrees lower

It depends on the species of fish.

I'd also recommend using 2 heaters that have about half the power; that way if one fails, your fish won't go into such fatal shock.

is this the gar tank? that temp isnt horrible for gar but u shouldnt keep them that temp too much. if i glimpse any health issue with my gar i up the temp to above there.

Should be fine.

i mean 81 to 83 is ideal but warmer temps for large cichilids and such are fine. Just dont get higher than 85 and try to get down to 83 or 84 if you can and try and not to let the temp change to drastically.
