My weekend beach haul!

So I had the opportunity to go to the beach over the weekend and I found a really cool of driftwood for my 125g

I have no idea what kind of wood it is but seems to be already weathered and hard. Somehow I was able to fit this 8ft+ piece in my car lol

Does anyone have any experience using pieces like this?

Nice find unfortunately have no idea of what type of wood.

I would pour boiling water over it and scrub it down with a plastic wire brush and then soak it good in a large tote if you can find one.

Not sure what kind of wood it is so you’ll have tk keep an eye on it. Most wood initially will develop some fungus which you can brush off. If it literally starts to rot, don’t use it.

I could be wrong but I think this might be a cherry wood branch?

I had to snap it as it is way too big, and noticed it had a red center.

Also looks like something tried to start eating the wood along the way on the surface only but I think it looks really cool.

I'm soaking it for now as it is very buoyant while I try to get more info on this to make sure it's safe.
