Does anyone out there have a cat that loves the smell of mildew? My wonderfully, dorky cat (who at the moment is playing fetch with me with a plastic stick) loves the smell of mildew. I discovered this one day when I left a laundry basket full of wet towels in the garage for a couple days. I walked out to find Rupert with all fours spread eagle over the pile of smelly towels, and his face buried in them. Forget catnip. Mildew will hold his attention for like thirty minutes as he rubs all over it. The worst part of this is that I always sleep with my cats, and he ends up smelling of mildew terribly. Funniest cat I've ever known, but seriously? Mildew?
Oh, and since most of the time no one believes me, here he is bringing back the 'stick' I just threw. (Sorry for camera phone)...

:) He's wonderful, but I don't think he got the memo he's a cat and not a dog. Anyways, I just have never seen a cat react like this before to mildew and didn't know if this is yet another funny quirk or rather somewhat common.

My fishing cat has a love for Mildew, the nastier the better. If something goes bad in the fridge I have to put it outside immediately or he knocks over the garbage can to get at it.

Love the quote I'm kind of leary getting anything to monstrous as mine keeps drinking from the tank and sticking his paws in.

maybe it has something to do with your username??? :grinno: ;)

Yeah, pretty much that's him. The fouler it is the weirder he gets about it.

As for the monster tanks... Two of my cats would skip the clean bowl of water I put out for them and head straight over a tank or bucket of fish water. They are always trying to stick their feet in the tanks. However, I have found that they are terrified of the giant catfish. I've had them both go running into the garage only to slowly back away from the tank. If I pick them up and try to show it to them, they last for about 15 seconds before they are squirming and wanting to get away. I'm fine with that. Even though everything is sealed shut, I prefer them to have a healthy respect for something that could drown them (and in a few years eat them) if they stuck their foot in that tank.

The screen name has to do with all my underwater cats. :hearts: It just so happens that because of those underwater cats, that the land cat is randomly able to find wet, mildewed towels lying around the garage.

He'll pick fights with both the older larger cats and our dog. You can't respect to a cat who lacks any concept of self preservation.

Nope. That's like teaching a chihuahua that barking at and trying to pick a fight with that the big dog over there isn't intelligent. It's like no lesson will ever get learned until chomp bye, bye chihuahua. As for the cat, I'd recommend a good swim in an unpopulated tank via a missing lid, except that my Rupert has gone for a swim before and that doesn't seem to slow him down. Rupert is a 'balls to the wall' kinda cat, and I can count on one hand how many times he's been spoked by something. But, somehow, he is weary of the big (22+") catfish.

I filled the bath tub empty with ajax,I mean all over, and when I came back in my cat was rolling all around in the freakin ajax, yours is very cute
