Okay so here is my problem. I am currently 23 years old. When I was 14, I used to have a small 10 gallon aquarium. Being very stupid and knowledgeable, I used tap water with no chemicals. I killed fish left and right and eventually gave up very fast. I have very crappy well water here at my place. My folks have a 72 gallon bow front that I put together for them, but I went to my lfs and asked if I could fill buckets of their water to fill the tank. Now that I have my own 20 gallon, and a new 45 gallon, I am sick of asking to poor store owning for water. Is aquasafe a great conditioner? Is my well water saveable and do you think I can use it?

If you want best of the best water conditoner get seachem prime. It will cost a little more then aquasafe but you use so much less its not funny. I do water changes with a 4 gallon bucket and to add the right amount to each pucket I use a eye dropper and put 8 drops in. Yeah it will last you a very long time.

Do you have a water softener?

I prefer to use Prime, but any store-bought conditioner should be fine

what is wrong, exactly, with your well water?

a second option is a reverse osmosis system

well water can be a bit dangerous for fish, for several reasons, including but not limited to high metals in the water, I would get a Reverse Osmosis system.

I cant think of allll the reasons off the top of my head right now, but about a year ago I was looking at purchasing a home in the country and it was on a well, and I did a bunch of research on what effect the water would have on my fish/plants. I came to the conclusion that I would have to get an RO system.

.
That's a very broad, very general and very untrue statement. Well water is one of the best things for fish. All 18 tankfuls of fish I've got thrive on it. I don't doubt the OP poster "killed" his fish when he was 10 yrs old but I seriously doubt it was because of well water.
