his fins wer white when i bought him now they are more of a light yellow, this is very wierd has anyone ever seen this. im feeding nls btw

Wow that was a bait and switch routine. I have seen some at the store that I swore that where white trimmed then got them home and they turned orange. I think the store lights have something to do with that and I notice it usually happens when they are younger juvies. I also think it could have something to do with them being stressed then once they settle in the color comes back. But when I look at your first pic I would of swore that was a white saum.
I've had that happen before, long time ago, don't remember all the details, except I remember that at the time, not having much experience with them, I interpreted it as they must be white as babies and get the orange as adults-- a theory I later discarded and forgot about as I saw and kept more of them which had the orange from a small size and also had white saums that stayed white.
my guess is nutrition, maybe once u get them on a good diet the gold kicks in. but also it could be that theyre whitesaums with g saums mixed in and thats why it switches up. idek. hes a great fish regardless, tons of energy and spunk i just wish it was a white saum that wud have be so much cooler
I bought a small fish once I swore was a white that's why I bought it, then when I got it home I noticed it was a very pale yellow/orange. The saum was very thin an easly confused I was a little bummed but kept him anyway. The fish turned out to be the one I posted in your other thread the top picture. I don't see many whites around here, I haven't in s while.
my other lfs is way more legit than the petland i bought this guy at, they had about 9-12 saums about 4-5 inches each in a 40 breeder for sale for i think it was 25 bucks, i never seen such a batch of green terrors the gold ones wer beautiful and they had about 4 legit white saums mixed in i didnt have the tank space at the time but my friend ended up grabbin a gold that turned out real nice...it did eventually die within a year or 2 cuz he had no clue what he was doing smh
