i just bought 12 30g long 7 55g, 5 20highs, 12 5.5g, 2 15h high and 2 10g fish tanks for 600 bucks, most are new and some are like 7 months old. i will post pics of them when i get them. this is going to be a nice start to my fish room

any thoughts on filtration, id like to use one filter for all of them with a few quarentine tank with seperate filtration

you answered your own question... though personaly i would wait to do the filtration till you figure out how you are going to set everything up.. also "several" of the tanks on one "few" centeral filtration systems sounds like a better idea because then you could keep different water types

yeah true ill have to do that, but what i meant was how should i do the multi tank filtration, not quite sure how it works

SUMP!
sounds like you are going to want to set it up like petco/petsmart/ect does..

though with the size of the tanks you have that may be more work than its really worth.. you would either have to build overflows for all the tank and run/split a line from the pump and get the flow right.. not to mention build the sump and get a pump that can do the job for you... if you take the tanks you listed and build them into 3 sections.. you are going to spend that much again just on "the stuff" to make it work...

you may be better off doing the whole system off of bubble filters and or ugf filters.. that will run you somewhere around... i dunno.. $200-$600 for the pump, airline, filter boxes, sponges, other media, shipping (online will have better prices), and other misc whatnot... you could save a bunch using waterbottles as the filter boxes but the looks come into play.. though they could be hidden with some plants..

theres a lot to be done and a lot of ways to do it.. projects are great.. having to figure out how to do them stinks

IMo you would have to be really crafty to filter all those tanks for less then what you have into them. If it was me i would put the 55's on a sump and the small ones on air sponges. But that will be really hard considering most 55g's are tempered. So you have to get 7 over flow boxes. --------------------------ouch HOPE YOU HAVE DEEP POCKETS

oh but we all have deep pockets some of us seem to hit the bottom more often and have to wait for the refill

haha, true, ill probably have to use sponge filters, this isnt exactly going to be in my house, im opening a store accross the street from my house, but it will be a fish room, i just have to sell the fish out of the room. i would have a fish room but only 10g are allowed in my apartment:(
