Does anyone have trouble with their Wolf Fish attacking feeders so hard and fast that it hits the top of the tank injuring its self? The upper and lower lip of my Wolf is gashed up badly. I have quit feeding him live feeders until his lip heels. Does anyone else have this problem or have a solution? Thanks.

Dang I need to get a wolf fish! :D

Might need to lower the water level. Most likely you need a larger tank so lowering the water level will be possible?

Good problem to have though, sounds like you have a killer fish :)

if i didn't already stock my new tank that is what id be getting lol

Lower the water level and also try to switch him over to market shrimp and such. Do not worry about the gashes and do NOT use medication to heal them up. Wolf fish are VERY strong healers and using medications might only further complicate things.

Also just noticed that you have him housed with Pacu? that might be the reason for his over zealous-ness in feeding is to "out do" his competition for food.

Thanks for the help everyone. Thats exactly what ive been doing since the injuries is feeding him bait shrimp. He is about 8" long now. I have a 55g but im looking into getting a 150g. I do have trouble when feeding because the Pacu eat EVERYTHING! This Common Wolf hits the top tank canopy so hard that it actually wakes me up at night. I will try lowering the water level and if I have to the Pacu will have to find a new home. Wolf is stayin : ) Thanks

sounds like a killer fish :)

i also have a wolf fish and a pacu with two ck. i feed them all large night crawlers they get along great. the wolf even comes up and takes the worms that i hold half in and out of the water.
