I have a 13" hoplias malabaricus which I've been feeding progressively larger fish because of the entertainment value and the zeal with which he pursues the larger prey. Last night I fed him a shiner that was about 4-4 1/2" long and he swallowed it eventually. Today I was watching my tank and he let out a few air bubbles before regurgitating the fish, partially digested.

Should I be at all concerned?

i don't think so.

Do not feed him for a while and refrain from feeding large prey.

Yeah I'm not toooo concerned about it, but I'm definitely sticking with smaller feeders from here out. The only reason it bothers me is because I once purchased a peacock bass which was shipped with feeders in the bag for some reason, and his last act before dying an hour after I put him in my tank was to puke out several of the feeders.
