Here is the Freddie cichlid that I've had for almost 2 years. In the last 2 weeks it went from being a dark green base with heavy black and gold accents to being white with very little black and gold accents.

Also, I just picked up this GORGEOUS 8-9" black belt for $20 at my LFS. A steal in my opinion :D.

awesome Freddy!

I love the black belt you have. You know the black belt was a fish that I purchased on a whim because the store did not have anything else. I have come to really really like them I have 5 in a 200gal tank with synspilums.

This is probably my 4th blackbelt. I've grown 3 others up from about 2 inches to about 5", at which point I added them to this same tank. They always got killed after about 24 hours. So when I found this big beauty for so cheap, and since its actually bigger than the other cichlids in the tank, I figured it would probably be able to hold its own.

It is definitely cowed by the Freddie this morning, and has a few scratches on its sides from scuffles, but otherwise they seem to be doing ok with it. I'll have to keep an eye on it so that I can separate if it starts looking bad.

Typical blackbelt, they never get along with anything!

That Freddy is crazy looking. I'll be interested to see if it keeps that color. I've never seen one like that. Who did you originally purchase it from?

It was purchased two summers ago from Eddie at Bluegrass Aquatics. I need to take some pictures by to show him.

Since the color change has just happened within the last 2-3 weeks, I'm hoping it has to do with the fish maturing, and will be a permanent color change.
