well like the post says I have a yellow lab thats digging holes in the gravel. Now my question is why?I have searched on here and elsewhere and have heard they are are mouthbrooders. My tanks has a mix in it though I also have some convicts that are doing the same thing. My first thought is that the yellow is just eating the eggs, but when I looked closer and watched for awhile I noticed that the yellow is removing rocks and clearing a space.

so anyways im pretty confused right now and any info would help!

malawi fish clear a spot which is like there "nest" or breeding ground. they move unwanted material away from this spot. well in the wild they make these crater things, where they decided he is going to make his home, and this is like his arena to attract mates, and they tidy it by removing odd pieces of gravel and shells etc to impress females. basically its looking for a mate. if you put something in his spot, it'll remove it, its pretty cool

ok I get it.so is there anything special Im supposed to do?I dont know how to sex these guys.MIne is about 3 inches and all yellow, now there is another yellow but its smaller and has the black on its fins and has faded the last couple of days and now has faded black stripes up and down on it.any help?

well thank you for the link!I have never seen the smaller one change colors before and the stripes hes has is weird!
