I got a school of 2-3" Myleus schomburgkii black belt silver dollars on October 8th. They don't seem to have grown much if at all - still around 2-3". They're growing out in a 40 breeder. I feed them twice a day - spirulina flakes in the morning, spirulina + vibra bites or Xtreme aquatic nano pellets in the evening (for the sake of their young Heros severus buddy), about as much as they can eat in a minute. Are these guys just slow growers or does it sound like something is wrong?

My spotted silver dollars did not grow much in the qt 90 but as soon as I put them in the 450 they get adult size 6 inches in a couple months
Size matters apparently

A school hunh, how many do you have and what's your water change schedule on that 40?

Oops, forgot to mention.. there are 5 SDs, and the severum is probably a little under 2". ~50% water change once every week or 2.

Fifty percent per week should be a pretty good amount to rremove and replace, what do you feed them and how often?

Mostly spirulina flakes, some Vibra Bites and nano pellets, twice a day, about as much as they can eat in a minute.

You seem to be doing everything right.I happen to have three shomburgkii that I got back in October. They are growing in a tank with a trio of blackberry silver dollars.I have noticed a bit of growth since first bringing them home as they are now about the size of a fifty cent piece.

Right, don't stress over it in about a year from now they will look quite different.

Yea don't worry they are super hardy. I have a school of 5 that are the size of dinner plates .I kept mine with all kinds of predators so they eat meaty pellets like cichlid gold or massivore by hikari and algae wafers they will eat everything.
