Mystery dead cichla

Woke up this morning and saw him head down tail up near the bottom of the tank. Don't understand how or why he died. He was the biggest out of my 4 mono growouts and was smashing pellets during the day and night before. Water parameters were pH 7.6, ammo: 0ppm, nitrite: 0ppm, nitrate: 10ppm

I'm speculating it had something to do with the Jar. The cichla are all 3.75"-4" and fattening up while the Jar is 5.5". The dead mono was a bit over 4".

did he normaly get chasd around the tank or is he slimey

nah the jar usually leaves them alone and if he does pick on anybody its the smallest cichla. The big guy never got picked on.

any lime stone in your tank

Negative on the lime stone. Rest of fish are doing great/eating well.

Half the time. Other half, they are epic gangsta.

well turns it out its the Jar. the other cichlas fins are all nipped and theres scratches on the bodies. Gonna put in a divider today.

sorry you lost one, but it's always a huge risk w/ jardini. I've been blessed w/ the one I have now, but always know it can decide to go bonkers.
