I had to isolate 2 of my herichthys bartoni because of aggression issues. i have had my 10 gallon running for a while i have a small BGK in there till the bigger tank is ready. so i put them in there, the two were about 2" or so. one was beat really bad before i got it moved it ended up with fin rot. i got Melafix Antibacterial to try and treat it but it died 2 days latter. i did two 50% water changes with filtered water a day apart to remove the meds.

the second one just died this morning, the bgk was alright still not sure if med started another cycle or what happened? this is only 4 days after removing the meds

10g tank, temp 78f, small hob filter with sponges and some ceramic media

before water change ph 7.7, ammonia 0.1 mg/l, nitrite 0.3 mg/l, nitrate 20-50 mg/l (my test kit jumps from 20 to 50 it was some were in between).

After water change ph 7.7, ammonia 0, nitrite 0.1mg/l, nitrate 10 mg/l. i added a little prime because i use filtered water but add a little hot to get it to temp and some stability.

I know this happens some time the fish was eating normal and had healed up nicely no bite marks or anything i could see on it when i pulled it from the tank

Umm, what do you mean by filtered water? (my guess is that you're using water from another tank) But I use carbon to remove MEDS from my tanks. And there should never be any nitrite or ammonia in any cycled tank...........

By filter water i mean water from my berkey water filter (google it). i use it for my small tanks and to top off bigger tanks.
As for the readings thats y i think i may of crashed my bio filter but i'm not sure if Melafix would do it
