Was supposed to be a bocourti, I don't think it is tho. Can someone confirm what this fish is?

I don't think there's anything "weird" about that fish at all. It looks exactly like the regani's i see Rapps carrying, except for the black blotch/stripe is more prominant in your case.

Nitrites, stress, water chemistry in general can impose changes to a fishes appearance. I've seen several different CA/SA swim around with solid black heads and regular colored body, only to change back to the norm once the chemistry is right

What's weird is he ordered a bocourti and got this fish, so obviously there was a mix up somewhere.

I'd really doubt that is a bocourti........sure looks like Chuco godmani. Looking at pictures in books and the internet, there are some examples of younger specimens with more pointed snouts like the fish in question; unlike the rounded snout of some mature adults. Chuco intermedium is another possibility. I guess you'll have to grow the fish out a little, then it might be more obvious(?).

Always possible for breeders to get fry mixed up....somehow.

It's a Chuco godmani. Nothing weird about the body/head shape, they get blockier as they age. Definitely not a bocourti. Not a regani either.
