i went fishing at the california aqueduct last saturday for some catfish...got skunked!!! but i did manage to catch five lil fish with my hands. they are abou 3/4" long look like a baby sunfish or bluegill but... they have what looks exactly like tribal markings (if youve ever seen tribal painted on bigrigs or harleys etc. you know what im talking about). they grey with a purple tint at the base of their gills, with the tribal being a dark grey or black.

i will have pics by saturday, and have no clue what these lil guys are. their in my 55 gal. show tank with a bunch of guppies, a pleco, and a syno. catfish. so im sure they'll be ok.

i got them to eat a lil bit of a mashed mealworm and a few flakes (wich is odd 'cause usually bluegill/sunfish attack anything that hits the water!) im thinking their baby stripers, or tilapia, 'cause thats the only thing i know of thats in the 'duct besides catfish.

ya i wanna see pics 2

ya they look almost exactly like that...the markings are pretty much the same, only mine have more appearent markings, and the mouth and head are right! what is it?

It's a tule perch. Have you noticed that the markings are darker on some and lighter on others? With tule perch, the females have the darker markings and the males sport light or faded-looking markings.

sweet! i thought they looked like ocean perch (barred surfperch to be exact) but their freshwater.

thanks a bunch addball!

ill still post pics though.
