I feel so dumb that I can’t tell the difference. It’s even more embarrassing because I’ve owned both before?

I bought a dozen “ivory mystery snails” a couple months back. I’ve been very irritated that they haven’t laid any eggs! Mystery snails have never laid eggs for me. I don’t understand why and thought maybe it’s because I’ve been so unlucky getting just males? This time I bought enough I thought to guarantee males and females. I’ve even had them in their own tank now for a few weeks just to hopefully get some babies. I previously had cichlid juveniles in there with them and I think they might have been eating any possible babies.

Anyway, I’ve had three little snails show up in this time. All different sizes! And yet I have not seen a single egg or egg cluster! And I check everywhere, so......I’m really questioning what snails I have. I need help. Lol

MrsE88 MrsE88 are you aware of how they breed? I’m not attempting to insult you but if you don’t know how they breed and are just assuming then that is likely why they aren’t breeding since you don’t have the correct set up since you don’t know what to avoid.

I do know how both breed. And it makes sense now since the trapdoors give live birth they have always reproduced slowly for me. That was the reason I wanted mystery snails since they lay egg clusters. I had my tank set up with a lower water line for that reason. It wasn’t till these babies started popping up that it made me question what I had. My trapdoors in the past we’re pond raised and covered in algae. The adults didn’t look like the ones I have now.
It’s sad, but I thought they were just really ugly mystery snails?‍♀️

Won’t lie, I’m pretty bummed.
