I got my 95 from a fellow mfk member as a trade for a stingray I rescued. I'm not sure how long the tank was empty before he gave it to me but it looked to be empty for atleast a few days to a week. I know he had snails in it before cause some were stuck in the openings of the overflow box. Now I keep finding snails in the tank not sure were they came from or how they survived. Is it possible for aquatic snails to live out of water for extended periods of time?

Oh . There was barely any sand in the tank when I got it. The snails are actually ramshorn snails

I believe they can go out of water for extended periods of time (couple days) but not sure if they could for more then a week. I would think after thier bodies dried out they would die. I've never taken mine out of water for more then 10-20 minutes & have never had escapees, so I'm not quite sure.

I found two on the plate for my overflow and a few very tiny ones on the rocks in my tanks.
