I have a black ghost knifefish (Excalibur) that I've owned for about a year (I think, I can't remember exactly when I got him) he was purchased at petco at 4 inches long, and is now 9 inches. I feed him frozen bloodworms, beefheart, and occasionally night crawlers every other day. I moved him and my other fish (6 tetras, 1 albino pleco, 2 emerald Cory catfish, and 1 opaline gauromi) to a 75 gallon tank yesterday. Before he was in a 30 gallon (yes I know that is too small for an adult, hence why he's now in a 75 and will be moved to a 150 once I figure out where to purchase one at a reasonable price) the tank is filtered with a cascade canister filter, has an appropriately sized heater (I cant remember the brand) and currently has 2 airstones running in it (he LOVES those things lol) I am purchasing a bubble bar for the tank so he can have more bubbles. My issue is today I noticed a white spot on his chest (not sure what the proper term for fish chest is, but I'm sure you can figure out what i mean) he's acting fine and I dont see any other issues (he Definately loves the new amount of space he has, he'll just take off and zoom around the tank back and forth lol) I'm worried because I had a fish in that tank die from what I think was a bacterial infection. At the time I could not find any info on what it was or how to treat it. It started as a few of his scales being whiter than the rest, and then it turned into a huge wound that looked like a bite had been taken out of him. I had him isolated in a bare quarintine tank and treated him with pimafix, which did absolutely nothing. I have now been told that what he had was most likely bacterial, and melafix should help if I have that happen again. I read on another post here that melafix and pimafix are not proven to work (though I personally have had success with pimafix for that fuzzy white fungus stuff on a black Molly) and can be dangerous for Black Ghost Knifefish, so now I have no idea what to do. Any help will be appreciated.

Melafix and pimafix won’t do anything for that wound. Would add some triple sulfa to the tank. Keep the water clean and make sure it eats.
