I have one of these guys, he's about a foot and is mean as hell. Keeps ripping off the intake tube on my filter, and sometimes when I toss in a few big goldfish and the ones he doesnt eat he'll just bite on there head and kill them and then just spit them out. And while gravel vacking he's bittin me a few times, and it hurts.
ive got one, and he is cool.....when he comes out of his pipe that is.
check my gallery for some pics i managed to get when hes not hiding, only other time he comes out is when its very dark, not just tank light off but living room light off aswell. (no good for pics)
My first male bought in 1990 died in 1999 was wicked.
The other one I bought in 1990 was last seen in my big tank about 3 years ago and hides in caves eating cichlids. The one in the following video which was made today was caught out of my 15,000 on Sunday and I bought it in 1999. It is now in my 52,000 and probably will not be seen for a long time now that it has 28,000 lbs of rock and caves to make home. I have another one in a 180 that I've been growing up. It is about 18" long at present.
These are great fish to own and only serious MFK keep them.
Enjoy yours......
Made a you tube video of SimonL and the guys(All MFK members) catching the Hemibagrus wyckii and measuring him.
