I don't know if you can mix them, but blue gills and pumpkinseeds and there relatives are not cichlids.
Yes, you should be able to mix them and as wonderboy pointed out, they are not cichlids. I'm not sure about aggression issues, but if they have enough space I see no problems.
I have a mixed tank with Pumkinseeds, GSF, Bluegills, an Oscar and a SA Pike. They all get along fine. Just make sure the tank is big enough as pumkinseeds and bluegills get pretty big.
