was wondering what other cichlids i can put in the tank with the 3 2" haits that i have in the 60 gallon...was thinking of a green terror...since they are all slow growers....

Although I've seen a few pics of other fish keepers success, my experience is haits don't mix well with others they cannot dominate. My guess is you will either end up with a solid pair from your 3, or end up with one. And if you try to combine the haits with a fish that dominates them, you will end up with no hait, because the stress of being dominated, will make them bloat and die. Sorry if this is a bit pessimistic, but haits are generally a solitary wanderers.

And a 60 gal within about a year, will become too small for even one hait. My female grew from 2" to 8" in about a year, with proper care. My experience is also that haits require mid to upper 80s, while that is a little high for green terrors.

thanks. i didn't want to end up with just one hait that's why i wanted to add other cichlids such as a gt since they're not too aggressive...

keep them by themselves

With most cichlids I think another species helps distributes aggression in a tank. And I may be anthropomorphizing here a bit, but because of haitiensus ancient single species evolution,
another species with even a slight ability to challenge their supremacy totally rattles their confidence. I know, sounds wack! but they share habitat with livebearers and killifish, kind of light competition.

yea, both of mine died 2 weeks ago from being stressed Im guessing, based on all the feedback I got on this thread:

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=199862

I couldnt find too much info or feedback that said to keep them alone or mentioned bloat as a big deal before I got them, or else I wouldnt have. They certainly thought they were bad *** though...3 inches of attitude attacking 6 & 8 inch fish. :screwy: The festae and carpintis just ignored them.

They were becoming my favorite fish in the tank before they died.:irked:
