dude, congrats to him

was it an armbar? that kid is crying and holding his arm

edit: nevermind, just saw the video.

Li, your boy pulls guard a lot, you can tell he's very comfortable on his back. it's good he has a very aggressive and offensive guard for whenever he's facing someone physically stronger. how's his top game?

for kids, do they separate divisions by weight or age?

and i'm sure he's working all aspects of his game to close any holes in his weaker areas. his bottom game appears mostly offensive, how's his defense? i'm wondering how he'd react when competing against someone who can defend his sub attempts

Congratulations to your son, very nice armbar from closed guard =]. Getting him involved in wrestling would definitely help his top game, as he will be able to secure the takedown and work from there. You could also encourage him to practice more sweeps during practice to get on top, then pass the guard, thensecure side control/mount/back, and then work for the finish. There is always going to be someone better at top or bottom than you, so being good at both is advantageous.

Do you also train Li?

Its funny the blonde ref on the left is my buddy Shane. He owns Berks Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here in Reading. Small world!

Awesome, man! When my son gets a little bigger he may do BJJ, for now (he is 4) he does Kempo Karate and loves it.

Congratulations on the wins!

Jason has a very very good bottom game both offense and defensive. He is working on his speed and strength. here is the kid that he fought in the video.. they both fought in finals expert gi and no-gi division. he is a great top game player.
