Naming Your Fish

How many of you name your fish?

What are their names?


This is the CA/SA Cichlid part of the forum, but any of your fish you named will be acceptable.




I try not to name fish anymore, because I get too attached, but I can't help myself.


1.) Pimelodus Blochii "Brutus"

2.)Clown Pleco "Bud"

3.)Black Ghost Knife "Leviathan" -- "Levi" for short (pronounced Leh-vee)

4.) tiny Green Severum "Chick"

5.) Angelfish "Angel"




and my Silver Dollars are known collectively as the "Three Amigos".





*I hope this doesn't get moved, let's try to keep it mostly CA/SA's.... Let my other fish slide*

i only name certain fish, some of them are:
my dorado-chancho
an oscar that was so tiny when i got it that only one name seemed appropriate-Li

My wife names "her" O's after greek gods... Zues, Posiedon, Athena, Hera, Hades, Apollo.

I only name my oscars, i guess i could name the other cichlids but i dont and there are way too many other fish to name.

Oscar - first oscar i owned, seemed appropriate.
Sony - rescued out of a sony monitor that was turned into a tank/prison.
Egor - rescued big dumb brute that had ate everything in his 29g.
Spots - rescued now gone, hith so bad that it looked like spots all over his head.

We only name certain fish... Our FH is Shrek, the JD is Jack, the polleni(rip) was Polly.. lol

I've got 2 little O's now that I havent named.. and we dont name our Polypterus.. we just call them by their common name.

Only a few of my fish have names:

Pearlscale goldfish: Mr. Bumpy
Convict pair: Connie and Carlos
Weather Loach: Carl (our local weatherman's name)
Stingray: Man Ray
Arrowhead puffer: Buff Puff

I don't name my fish, but I would like to say Oscar is an awful name for an Oscar, just like Jack for a Jack Dempsey or Puffy for a Puffer. Sorry to the people that get pissed when they read this.
