I split up my 2 haitiensis about 3-4 weeks ago. Now that the one here at work has settled in, I brought in my camera gear and took some shots using Mo's small aperture and top remote flash technique:

Beautiful Hait. Great pics!

Link? Mo was talking about it in the Camera thread in the photo section... but that's 18 pages or something now, have fun finding it!

Basically it comes down to having a remote flash mounted on top of tank, a flash controller (Canon st-e2 or another master capable flash... or with many Nikon dSLRs it's built-in) then using a very small aperture & short shutter to help freeze any movement. Think I was using f/18 or f/22 and a 1/200s shutter speed.

Then fun part is waiting for the fish to swim underneath where the flash was mounted. Patience is needed!

Yea I can see Mojo's technique here. Increadible quality but the fish is too close for may taste. Especially for the second photo, you can crop a better photo out of it.

I had to crop out some distracting things in the background for the 2nd photo. Guess I could go back and see if I can get a proper 1/3 rule photo out of the un-edited photo. Didn't have the freedom to sit and wait for her to pose, basically just picked up the camera when I had a chance while working :)

She's somewhere in between 8-9" now. VERY destructive. Down to a single clay pot and a pile of now floating plastic plants.
