Wondering if you guys could tell what you think of the sex of this dude. About 4.5" currently. Initially had 4 and picked the one I thought most likely to be male and sent the other three to a friend. The other 3 turned out to be female (all laid eggs). This one has never displayed the blacked out colors of the other three, but the dark color in the first 2/3 of the dorsal has me a bit confused. I have seen where proven males will have this, but am still a bit unsure here.

Thanks for looking!

I'm curious LOPAKA, why'd you switch your answer from "200% Male" to "I'd slow down on feeding it just to be on the safe side"?

Lol it won't stay still!! I want to say male but if you could post a pic so I could see the coloration in the fins, it would help a lot.I've had females that looked like males and males that went all black like females lol

Yeah unfortunately he cruises like that constantly so I can't get a decent pic with my crap camera. I'll try and get one tonight, but I usually pause the vid and try to kinda skip frame by frame to get a decent look at him. Sorry, i'll see what I can do...

The dorsal color looks a bit female to me, also the profile. Females sometimes fade when no male is in the tank like mine below.

Note the lak of color in my males dorsal below

Normal female color, but only with a male present

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of...6 months growing them out and may just end up with 4 out of 4 being female. It's putting on size now so probably give it a bit more time, but may have to start over.:(
