I have kept my pair a + 12" male and +10" female in a 150 gal tank most of the time. I have had to remove the male occasionally when his aggression threatened her. I find a lot of cover, and broken lines of sight, also help disipate aggression. I have tried dithers, but they have always ended up as meals for the pair. When young, they require very warm temps, mid 80s minimum. Collection site temps I've seen range into the mid 90s.
