Ich has stricken my tank with my Nandopsis haitiensis (black nasty/odo/haiten cichlid) and in browsing through ich treatment articles it says to make sure the fish being treated are not sensitive to salt.. does anyone know if these fish would be okay to treat with salt?

Haits can take plenty of salt and high temps (even into the 90s). I have seen collection data of high 80s to low 90s.

I normally keep my haits at temps in the mid 80s, the only time they got ich was when a heater crapped out, and the tank dropped into the mid 70s.
The ich was gone after I raised temp to between 88 and 90, and I added handfuls of water softener salt (gradually over a few days).

You need to go to at least 86F minimum temp to kill ich. A little higher than that is better imo...like 87-88F. I always up the aeration when raising the temperature.

Or you could bomb it with WC's, but seeing as lack of them most likely cause it your PH is probably very low.Meaning the large WC's would burn that fish up with a spike.

High-er temps and frequent small WC's.

Get a python, I do 10% daily/bi-daily with it, it's a dream.

it's definitely not because of lack of water changes.. i think it is because of a drop in temp the other day (halfway through a WC someone started up the shower and the temp dropped big time lowering the temp from 86ish to 78 in a matter of minutes. thanks for the replies guys!
