nandopsis haitiensis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
imo bad idea for your 150 unless you're going to be moving out most of the other fish at some point. I've heard that black nasty aggression is up there along with festae, beani, dovii and umbee so all those fish in a 150 would at some point lead to a blood bath.

also, the haitiensis can be very susceptible to bloat, at least during the juvenile stage. some believe this is due to too high a protein diet while others (including myself) believe it has more to do with water quality. the haitiensis is a riverine species so it is used to very fast flowing, highly oxygenated water. I'd recommend at least 10-15x per hour filtration as well as several powerheads on the tank to make sure the water is kept up to the hait's standards. also, several large water changes are recommended. personally I'd try to do 30-40% water changes around 3 times per week.

the haitiensis is a gorgeous cichlid and well worth keeping, but they are one of the more demanding species as far as new worlds go. :)
