Finally decided to try my luck on a Cuban cichlid species tank, I received 3 juvies from rapps today all about 2" hoping for a pair but a solo male will do just fine, I tried to take some decent pics but they were all over the tank and & wouldn't keep still, will try again in the near future & keep this post updated, any info on these guys will be appreciated,,,

Nice I got a group yesterday, myself.

Immediately they were out and about, not shy at all!

Good luck to you, watching this thread.

Nice group, the ones I had seemed shy.

Nice Cubans. Looking forward to more updates. I had a few but when they arrived one was covered in white spot and unfortunately died soon after in quarantine. They were around 2-3" when I got them and almost immediately the dominant one of the group started to display breeding colouration/patterns. The others looked like how yours do in the pictures. I had them in a 180 gal divided and they were all very boisterous for their size. The same as Haitiensis I think they're quite prone to bloat and sensitive to water quality.

Getting in only a group of 3 is not s great idea. Need more to evenly spread agression. I've bred and raised these and once they hit that 2-3" mark they are super agressive towards their own species, male or female. Hopefully you have some dithers and plenty of hiding spots. Cubans IME are a fairly slow growing cichlid (expect 1/2" a month tops). They're beautiful and interesting fish though, enjoy!

I don’t about your group but mine has packed on some size in the past week.
I picked up two crassipinnis as well and the tets seem to be out pacing them at present.

My group packed on size as well, my one male definitely colored up some in the past week, he claimed half the tank for himself & chases the two females from time to time, but no real aggressive issues as of yet

I would love to see some pics of your Cubans, my three are doing great, funny cause my two females are more out going then the male, their all over the tank while he's more reclusive & stays in his cave for the most part,,,

Ill try to take some photos -
I grabbed 4, 3 are always out the fourth comes out for food. I’m not sure the sex of mine.
There are some purple hues in the dorsal
